The article analyzes the main directions of the policy of the Republic of North Ossetia- Alania in the field of information technology development in 2010-2020. It is noted that the effectiveness of the Russian Federation state policy depends on the degree of involvement of the subjects of the Russian Federation in the process of its implementation. Possessing a certain political and legal autonomy, the subjects of the Russian Federation have the right to issue acts of regional legislation. The analysis of regulatory legal acts adopted in the RNO-Alania in 2010-2020 and reflecting the main directions of policy in the field of information and communication technologies made it possible to group them into five blocks. The first block consists of acts ensuring the implementation of the right to access information on the activities of executive bodies and dedicated to the transition to the provision of public services in electronic form. The second block consists of acts related to the introduction of electronic document management and interdepartmental interaction systems. The acts included in the third block aimed at introducing universal electronic cards in the republic. The fourth block presents conceptual and program documents that consolidate the decision to establish a specialized body in charge of informatization issues in the republic. The fifth block includes acts related to the formation of a digital economy in the republic. The strategic planning documents and programs adopted in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania during the study period and aimed at the development of information and communication technologies, information society and the digital economy are also analyzed. It is noted that the implementation of measures within the framework of the policy for the development of information and communication technologies in the republic is associated with many difficulties: financial, personnel, technical, organizational and regulatory. It is emphasized that in order to increase the effectiveness of the policy aimed at the development of informatization and information society in the region, it is necessary to ensure its legal regulation that meets modern requirements. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the strategic goal of the regional policy of the Russian Federation should be the comprehensive development of all subjects of the federation, which implies not only the alignment of economic and social indicators throughout the country, but also the reduction of regional disproportions. The implementation of this task should be based on the principles of efficient use of the resource potential of regions and stimulation of their competitiveness.
