PROVERBS AND SAYINGS OF THE RUSSIAN AND OSSETIAN LANGUAGES AS A REFLECTION OF NATIONAL WORLDVIEW.

Abstract:
Proverbs and sayings represent a special type of linguistic units in which the collective experience of an ethnic group, its axiological attitudes, and cultural-historical memory are accumulated with extreme concentration. As secondary sign formations with a stable formal-content structure, paremias function as representatives of national worldview, explicating those mental dominants that have developed in the collective consciousness of speakers of a particular language over centuries of ethnocultural evolution. The comparative study of Russian and Ossetian paremiological units acquires particular scientific and applied significance in the context of the ongoing bilingualism of certain regions of the North Caucasus, since it allows revealing both universal and nationally specific components of the linguistic worldview, and also contributes to solving the tasks of linguodidactics, translation practice, and preservation of cultural heritage in an era of intensifying globalization processes.
