Abstract:
The article analyzes the cross‑cultural fusion of the macro concepts of Mady‑Mayram, who appears in Ossetian folk Orthodoxy in the status of the Mother of God, but has signs of a pre‑Christian female deity, and Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, perceived as a purely Christian character. The key point is the fact that Paraskeva Pyatnitsa as an independent subject is absent from the Ossetian ethno‑ religious pantheon. Nevertheless, Vs. Miller. The cult of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa is reflected in women’s veneration of Friday as a day of the week, when certain types of work related to spinning, weaving, sewing, knitting and other activities that require the use of sharp objects (spindles, knitting needles, needles, combs, etc.) are prohibited. The social relevance of the problem is due to the increased public interest in the revival of ethno‑religious traditions, which is impossible without studying the cultural and historical heritage of the people. The scientific relevance of the problem is also high due to its poor study: there has not yet been a special study in the scientific literature devoted to the study of the traces of the cult of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa in Ossetian folk Orthodoxy. This explains the novelty of the study, the tasks of which include understanding the essential links between the cult of the Theotokos and the cult of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa in Orthodox Christianity, their definition and interpretation in the Ossetian religious tradition. The study is synchronous and is carried out within the framework of the methodological concept of structuralism by K. Levi‑Strauss, according to which all cultural systems (language, mythology, religion, art, customs, traditions) are studied as sign systems.
