The problem of everyday life has recently attracted the attention of scientists more and everyday life - the history of everyday life, event history, the history of mentalities, i.e. both the person and the environment around him are shown. The daily life of the Dagestan highlanders attracted the attention of Russian authors who visited Dagestan. This topic was also covered by representatives of local peoples. The novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time it examines the views on women’s everyday life in Dagestan of the famous Caucasian scholar, lawyer Bashir Kerimovich Dalgat. He is the author of works on ethnography, customary law, folklore of the peoples of the Caucasus. In the manuscript of Dalgat «Customary law and tribal system of the peoples of Dagestan», written in 1934, contains interesting material about the everyday life of the mountain women of Dagestan in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. The purpose of the article is to consider the views of a well-known Caucasian scholar on the everyday life of mountain women in its ordinary version, on the distribution of responsibilities between men and women, on the features of women’s everyday life in different regions of Dagestan. The views of Dalgat about the impact on the daily life of a Dagestan woman of such remnants of the tribal system as the abduction of women, bride price, polygamy, levirate. When writing the article, historical-genetic and comparative-historical methods were used to get closer to recreating the real history of women’s everyday life in Dagestan. Analysis of the work of Dalgat, allows us to conclude that Dagestan women had more labor duties than men. Women worked more in the mountains than in the plains. At the same time, Dalgat, often in the house a woman was a complete mistress, her husband values her very much, and, if necessary, defended her honor with a weapon in his hands. The issue of women’s everyday life in Dagestan has acquired particular relevance in recent years and needs further study.
