Abstract:
As the main sector of the national economy, agriculture makes a significant contribution to
the country’s economy and largely determines the level of general well-being of the population. By
the end of the 19th century, the Terek region found itself in a situation when there were almost
no strong farms in the region that demonstrated any significant indicators, and the population
did not have the necessary knowledge and skills and ran their farms by “the old fashioned way”.
There was a need in society to change the existing situation. It was impossible to achieve success
in this field through the efforts of the population itself. Help came from the state. The purpose
of the work is to identify the role of state participation in the development of agriculture in the
Terek region during the period under review, characterized by transformations in all spheres
of public life. Comparative historical, systemic structural and civilizational approaches used as
the methodological basis. The research is based on the principles of historicism, integrity and
objectivity. In the course of studying the problem, the following results were obtained: the role of
the state in the development of agriculture in the Terek region was decisive; thanks to the measures
taken by the state, the agricultural sectors of the Terek region have risen to a fundamentally new
level; the implementation of state tasks in the field of agriculture was carried out by specialized
persons. The most effective activities were such as campaigning, dissemination of knowledge
through agricultural courses, public readings, lectures and conversations, the establishment
of experimental demonstration plots, and the provision of individual agronomic assistance
by specialists directly on the ground in villages and villages. A good start was the flight of the
propaganda agronomic train, bringing knowledge to the masses in an accessible way. Various
public agricultural organizations and associations provided significant assistance. A great
incentive for development was government awards for achievements in agriculture in honor of
the three hundredth anniversary of the reign of the House of Romanov.
