ON THE PROBIEM OF ARCHAIC CONSTRUCTIONS OF THE ISAFET MODEL IN THE SYNTAX OF THE MODERN OSSETIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract:
The problem of the functioning of outdated and unproductive forms in the modern
Ossetian language is quite relevant. Outdated elements at all levels make up a huge layer in
the Ossetian language. The article attempts to analyze nominal combinations in the syntax of
the Ossetian language, which, despite their archaic appearance, are quite productive along with
other determinative constructions common in the modern Ossetian language. Several models
of syntactic constructions were identified, in which obsolete syntactic constructions of the relay
model are presented. The study was conducted taking into account the linguoculturological and
grammatical features of the Ossetian language. The types of inversion constructions of the relay
model, mainly characteristic of the syntax of the Iranian languages, are considered: a combination
of two nouns, in which the first is a definition, the second – a definable. We are talking about the
position of the definition in relation to the defined, preserved in the Ossetian language. These are
specific models of syntactic constructions in which, contrary to the generally accepted regularity,
the definition is in postposition (behind the defined word). The peculiarity of this model is – the
design according to the type of genitive constructions. As for the type of connection, it expresses
an attributive one. There are several of these types of phrases (of the relay type) in the modern
Ossetian language. We have a special kind of constructions, the status of which must be clearly
isolated. In the textbooks of the Ossetian language, such constructions are not noted in the syntax
section, and that is despite the fact that the frequency of use of this syntactic model is quite high.
The purpose of the study is to study the essence of these constructions, to determine their functional
and semantic role in the modern Ossetian language.
