MYTH-FOLKLORE IMAGES AND MOTIVES IN ASIYAT KARMOVA’S POETRY

Zhugova, Inna E.
Izvestia SOIGSI. 2025. Issue 55 (94). P.143-154.
Abstract:

The article for the first time examines the problem of national originality of literature and the role and significance of the individual author’s skill of the writer in its artistic embodiment using the example of the work of the Adyghe (Kabardian) poetess Asiyat Karmova. The relevance of the stated topic is due to the fact that in modern Adyghe and, in general, in North Caucasian literary criticism, issues related to artistic understanding and coverage of ethnocultural values, national character, history of the ethnic group, etc. remain poorly studied. The purpose of the study is to identify mytho-folklore images and motifs of A. Karmova’s poetry, which act as dominant markers of both the idiostyle of the poetess and Adyghe poetry of modern times. In accordance with the stated goal, the article examines the mytho-folklore basis of the works and the symbolic world of images presented in them. In the course of the analysis of poems and the ballad “Venus”, the aesthetic and philosophical ideas of the Adyghe about the mystical, sacred, miraculous, spiritual world and the place of the ethno-national in it are revealed. The images of Tkha, Uashkho, Shible, Psatha, Psykhoguasha, ud, Nashgushidzaa, Malechipkh and others are subject to detailed analysis. Special attention is paid to the poetics of the works, the features of the poetic language of A. Karmova are considered. The article uses a number of scientific methods, including observation, analysis, description, comparative-historical and hermeneutic methods. As a study result, a conclusion is made about the highest degree of saturation of the poetess’s work with images-symbols, cults, concepts, archetypes, mythologemes, which together represent the Adyghe ethno-and linguacultural picture of the world.
