The article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the lexical and semantic group of kitchen utensils in the Nart epic of the Ossetians. The study includes lexical units, their se­mantic features and cultural significance in the context of the Ossetian epic text. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the lexical composition and socio-cultural traditions of the Ossetian people, as well as the influence of interethnic contacts on the for­mation of the lexical composition. The research methodology includes lexical and semantic and comparative historical analyses based on the material of the texts of the Nart epic and ethnographic data. The analysis of representation in the texts of the Nartiada includes the semantic and functional aspects of the said vocabulary, its role in the formation of the cultural and historical context and the transmission of traditional values. The key lexical units denoting kitchen utensils are classified, their semantic features and cultural and his­torical significance are analyzed. The analysis, conducted on an extensive corpus of texts, allows us to identify the main trends and features of the use of terminology related to kitch­en utensils, evolutionary changes in vocabulary, its adaptation to socio-cultural chang­es and transformation within the framework of the epic narrative. The lexical-thematic group “household utensils” in the heroic epic of the Ossetians is an indisputable source for studying the material and spiritual culture of the people. Some of the analyzed lexical units reflect both everyday realities and ritual practices symbolizing unity, hospitality and connection with ancestors; others in the context of epic texts are used as containers (dishes) for both the preparation of the main ritual and everyday food; others have a high sacred function. The results obtained are of considerable interest for the study of the vocabulary of the Ossetian language; they contribute to a deeper understanding of the functional role of kitchen utensils in the context of its relevance in the system of value orientations and traditional foundations of the Ossetians.
