Abstract: The article deals with the issues related to the activities of the mass periodical, the newspaper “Vlast Truda” (“Power of Labour”) (1924-1933), in covering the processes of collectivisation in North Ossetia. The mass periodical played a prominent role in the system of Soviet power, remaining the most important instrument of propaganda and agitation at all stages of socialist construction. As the information organ of the North Ossetian regional committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, the newspaper “Vlast Truda” reacted sensitively to official guidelines, which were a direct guide to action for Soviet propaganda. The newspaper focused on agricultural issues, showing the progress of agricultural reconstruction in the North Ossetian Autonomous District and explaining the “difficult” issues of collectivisation on the basis of the current political situation. The activities of the newspaper laid a solid ideological foundation for the socialist transformations in Ossetian agriculture, strengthening the political and ideological positions of the regional authorities and providing ideological support for state policy during the years of collectivisation. The subject of the analysis were the materials of the newspaper “Vlast Truda” for the period from January to March 1930. The paper uses general scientific methods of historical research, as well as the method of content analysis, which allowed us to identify the main story and thematic lines in the information content of the newspaper for the period under consideration and show its role in the formation of a positive image of the unpopular reforms among the people.
